The opportunity

Supply Chain In-Sites (SCI) works with some of the world's biggest retailers, food processors, clothing manufacturers, farms and factories to modernise how supply chains are audited. Traditional audits, namely site inspections, interviews, paper questionnaires, write-ups emailed weeks later are backward-looking snapshots that can miss problems until it's too late.

SCI's vision: get farmers, factory staff and other frontline workers using smartphones, cameras and sensors to capture data at scale, then apply AI to catch food safety and hygiene issues at source, before they reach the end customer.

The challenge

SCI had already built a set of use-case-specific apps with small software partners; covering things like rice farming, deer hunting, food processing, carbon emissions, factory hygiene, worker safety and modern slavery risk. But every new client contract meant building another bespoke app and back-end from scratch. As SCI raised seed funding to grow, it needed to show investors a credible, cost-efficient technology roadmap and prove it took data privacy, segregation and cyber security seriously, given its clients included some of the world's largest retailers.

Key insight

Most of SCI's client needs were fundamentally the same under the surface; user authentication, data capture via sensors or mobile (photos, video, audio, GPS, humidity, temperature), web-based data entry, cloud upload and storage, and AI processing (speech-to-text, document summarising, handwriting and image recognition). Rather than a new app per client, SCI needed one configurable platform with a common set of services and a customisable front-end theme per client.

Our approach

Noremo planned a structured discovery process to build the platform blueprint and cyber security plan:

What comes next

Once seed funding lands, Noremo will place two expert professionals on a fractional basis, an Interim CTO and Interim CISO, to accelerate delivery, brief and select suppliers, and review responses against the blueprint.

We plan to kick-start both initiatives, launch live and scaling pilots with 2 key clients and over the next 6 months handover to a highly capable full-time CTO who we will help recruit.
